Our Story
CARE Mental Health Services
As licensed professional counselors, we realized a large population of the community in need of mental health care was not financially able to obtain services. Constantly, we were being asked about free services or resources. As a private practice, we could not allocate enough pro bono sessions to properly serve the community. From our professional experiences while listening to our clients and being exposed to social media outcry for help. We quickly came to the realization that people were having to choose to pay their bills or work on their mental health. Understandable, counseling and mental health care took last priorities. For many clients, quickly this dilemma created crisis situations of episodes of panic, depression, anxiety, strains in families and individuals. We did not just experience this from the lower socioeconomic status, this was and is the situation across all measures. Clients, who could afford to pay for insurance premiums, could no longer afford high deductibles or co-payments to foster healing in their journey. This was the same trend with forensic court evaluations at times worse.
Forensic Court Evaluations are court orders requesting the party to decided if mental health would impede such functions as testifying, parenting, working, and etc. What we experienced were parties to the court order were paying thousands of dollars towards attorney fees and legal fees then adding the thousands of dollars Forensic Court Evaluations cost created a doom and gloom financial situations, which created additional mental health issues for these parties. Again creating a dilemma of someone having to choose to pay their court fees or mental health care. OF course, mental health care would be last priority. This situations was a running theme, the community having to choose from paying their bills or their mental health care. We needed to assist. Who would be better to create a nonprofit for mental health services than counselors
Our founder Angie Boles, who is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Clinical Professional Counselor Supervisor, and Certified Forensic Mental Health Evaluator, dove right into solution mode. Angie Boles met with counselors, staff, and her family and with their support she moved forward. She was convinced that a nonprofit company would be the best option to meet the need of the mental health community. She prayed about it. God placed the stepping stones. She was reunited with a friend who writes grants for other companies. She came on board. She was introduced to other strong resourceful people, who had knowledge and experience with fundraising. Then placing this all together, CARE Mental Health Services was created....that was the easy part. Now for the funding of a nonprofit. Well, that's is a bit trickier.
Funding for nonprofit that's a bit different than a private practice. As private practice, we filed insurance. As a nonprofit, we will rely heavy on funding through organizations and the community. This does take the community. We formed a fundraiser committee and sponsorship opportunities to give the each of you the opportunity to help fund the healing journey of neighbors, family, friends, and strangers who are in need of mental health services. We can not do it without all of you! Angie Boles, counselors, and staff here all want to thank you for your support!
